You don’t need a high level of skill to begin this journey, however, there are a few heart attitudes that will prepare you to get the most out of it.
Often, people think that they need to learn everything before they begin to lead others. Some of the greatest witnesses in the Bible, however, were normal people who were changed by Jesus. They didn’t have it all together, but they knew what Jesus had done for them. Following Jesus isn’t about being perfect, smart, educated or talented. It’s about being willing to take a step of faith. Then another step. And another.
Our hope is that you grow and learn how to lead others to do the same by working through the guides on this site. It doesn’t matter if you have been a follower of Jesus all your life, or if you just became one a few hours ago. If you want to learn and grow, this is for you.
You don’t need a high level of skill to begin this journey, however, there are a few heart attitudes that will prepare you to get the most out of it.
- Be ready and willing to learn. It all starts with your attitude. Be ready. Be open.
- Have a hunger for growing. Proverbs 2:4 says, “Look for wisdom like silver. Search for it like hidden treasure.”
- Come with a broken spirit, not a puffed-up ego. A teachable heart is the most important quality for a follower of Jesus.
You don’t need all of these things lined up perfectly before you start. You don’t need to feel ready, or to even feel confident. You only need to be willing. With our hearts in check, we can step out into the wild adventure of doing what Jesus has called us to do.
