Though God moves at will, there is something that we can do— we can prepare our hearts for him.
We cannot control God or His Spirit. He is sovereign and does what he wants when he wants to do it. We cannot predict, control, or coerce God to do anything. God alone has the power to cause awakening and revival. Though God moves at will, there is something that we can do— we can prepare our hearts for him. We can pray. We can make ourselves ready so that IF God graces us with a powerful work, we are ready.
Revival and spiritual awakening is a bit like surfing. You can’t control the wind and the waves. That is not within your power or ability. But you can learn to ride the board. So when the wind blows, the seas swell, and the pipe forms, you can grab your board and dive in for the ride of a lifetime.
