It is easy to get caught up in a race to the end. Slow down. The process is as important as the destination.
It is easy to get caught up in a race to the end. We usually want the outcome that comes from finishing— the degree, not the school; the cookies, not the baking; the paycheck, not the workweek, etc.
Following Jesus is less about what you will get at the end and more about what you are becoming in the here and now. The farther you delve into this relationship, the more it dawns on you that being with him is all that matters. You start becoming the kind of person that Loves God with every ounce of your being. Everything else will fade in comparison.
Paul says in Phil 3:8 “I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ”
Let’s roll— But, slow down. Make sure you take your time and put what you are learning into action. It is often tempting to hurry through the passage so that you can check Bible reading off of your list. Instead, start with an awareness that this journey is more about the process than the destination.
